| Sources: | 1. Named after Henry Dangar`s property Yallaroi Station, near Warialda NSW. The property was the site of the infamous Myall Creek Massacre of 1838, where 28 aborigines were slaughtered by white stockmen. This was the one and only instance of its type where the perpetrators were punished, with 7 of the stockmen later hanged.
The road was named in 1921 when the island was first subdivided.
There was a push in the late 1980`s to have Dangar Island changed back to its original name of Mullet Island because of Henry Dangar`s association with the massacre, but the Geographical Names Board rejected the proposal because the island was named after his son Henry Carey.
