| Sources: | 1. Situated on the southern tip of the island, the name is from the local aboriginal word for Whistling Kite, of which there still remains a nesting colony on the point.
Assumed the word is from the Ku-ring-gai language but could be Darkinyung or Dharug as all 3 tribes visited here.
