My ancestor Sarah Charlotte Holmes was an aboriginal woman of the Windsor clan. Given her surname was Holmes, and the Reserve is in Holmes Drive, how could I find out who Holmes Drive was named after? and if there could be a link, with her family. According to one line of research she was the daughter of George Holmes and Ann Randall/Randle, born Dec 28, 1844 at Currency Creek, and baptised 9 Feb, 1845, St Matthews, Windsor.

Sharon, I have only picked this up now, nearly a year after your posting. You have very similar information to me, even the Dharug (Dharung) alternative language, of Windsor. I wonder if our source is the same? I was not aware she actually lived at the 'Cooley Camp', and would love to know more about that place at Woodville. Was John Thomas Heard Aboriginal as well? I am a descendent of Sarah Charlotte's daughter Mabel Blanche Heard, who had a daughter, - my Nanna. Sharon how do you link in?

I have been searching for information on Ancestry.com about Sarah and her parents. I am searching for our Aboriginal heritage so I can teach my children about where they came from and who they are..... Your blog is the most information I have found for ages. I have other cousins who would also be interested. I am sorry if this makes no sense but I have been searching for information for years and I am so excited I have made a break through. I hope you don't mind me sharing this page with my aunty... Although she probably already knows as she is really up on the family tree.
    Cheers Anna

Anna I have traced the family tree pretty extensively. Could you please provide more info concerning your connections. I am still trying to find the links with the Dharug through Sarah's mother Ann Randall, who later married Charles Young, of Windsor. In terms of Windsor mob, they were either Cattai, or Boorooberongal people. However Sarah's mother was born in 1816 at Broken Bay, and it is possible her mother came from coastal Dharug. In Awabagal language (spoken by coastal Broken Bay people, 'Dhurang' is Awabagal language for Dharug. See reference to Sharon Howard's posting.
    cheers, Jo

in the 90's i being a little boy went here with my grandfather and a member of the land council.
    and a professor.

Pop showed them how to get there and told many stories of his child hood that day the council decided to tidy up the site and built a fence around it.

His name was Terry James Locke.

    What a great memory.
