Haugheys Crossing marked the location of a ford across the Colo River at Upper Colo, New South Wales which was replaced by a timber bridge in 1936 and then a concrete structure in 2023. In May 1935, the owner of the adjacent land, Mr Ivery wrote to Colo Shire Council in objection to the construction of a bridge on his land. The Windsor and Richmond Gazette reported on the matter:
ENGINEER’S REPORT Mr, T. W. Spencer, shire engineer. Bridge over Colo River at Haughey’s Crossing— A Mr. Ivery, owner of land adjacent to bridge, through his solicitor (Mr. R. B. Walker) stated that the bridge and approaches would encroach on his property. The President and myself looked into the matter at the Lands Office and found that a road, etc., had been proclaimed in 1888 and 1889, and Mr. Ivery’s solicitor has been given the necessary information. Sections of the approach works have been submitted to M.R.B. [Main Roads Board] for approval, and to Local Government Department with a view to proclamation as a relief work. The contract for bridge has been signed and a start will be made at once.
