Sadly, Loxley was destroyed by fire on the evening of 5 September 2025. The original timber building and most of the accommodation was reduced to ashes. The disaster was widely reported in the media across NSW including the ABC website.
The site occupied by Loxley is part of Portion 195 of the Parish of Kurrajong, County of Cook which was a 50 acre grant to William Townsend on the 28 September 1833. The property became known as “Mt Pleasant”. Subsequent owners included Charles Moore, members of the Holdsworth family and Alfred Lord and family.

In 1964, the property was converted from Old Systems to Torrens Title in favour of Henry and Edward Lord. At this time the portion of land still remained the original 50 acres. Subdivisions subsequently took place in 1994 and 1997.
Home located on Bellbird Hill built in 1860s, owned by the Lord family from 1896. Now a restaurant, reception venue and guesthouse.
