Mrs Greentree’s Grocery Store was located at number 99 on the corner of Crown Road and Hamilton Street in Riverstone during the 1950s. A sign advertising the dry cleaning business was attached to the street side of the building. It was a convenient place for local people to buy their bread and milk. The small building is still there and everynow and then someone opens a takeaway business, but as it hasn’t got much parking and it is a struggle for them to make money.
An advertisement for Doumney Dry Cleaners of Windsor, New South Wales on page 72 of the Hawkesbury Directory for 1956 listed Mrs Greentree’s Grocery Store as the Riverstone agent for the dry cleaners.
