Around 1900 the creek on Old East Kurrajong Road (then known as the East Kurrajong Road which was the main road from Windsor to East Kurrajong) was known as Packman’s Creek. The creek at this location was also known as Billong Creek in the 19th century and Sandy Creek in 1950s and 1960s but is now called Howes Creek. The creek was so named because Henry Packman, a basketmaker by trade and his family lived and farmed basket willows in this location.
